The research involves a number of volunteers who were asked to consume 500 grams of strawberries for a period of two weeks. Their blood samples collected after day 4, 8, 12 and 16. The test report shows, the daily intake of fruit can increase blood plasma antioxidant power while enhancing the ability of the resistance of red blood cells against oxidative stress.
The researchers explained that certain types of strawberries can really help in combating oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is a state in which the amount of free radicals in the body exceeds the body's capacity to neutralize them.
Consequently, the intensity of oxidation processes of normal body cells become increasingly higher and cause more damage. Medical literature to prove that oxidative stress is a major cause of premature aging.
